Start in scenic Hout Bay which is a lively coastal town with a lovely swimming beach and a picturesque harbour where you can buy some of the best fish and chips in the world. Drive south to bare all on Sandy Bay, Cape Town’s spectacular nudist beach, with it’s white, coarse grain sand, stunning dunes and dense fynbos. Continue on to Camps Bay with it’s infamous seafood restaurants and vibrant main road. Follow the picturesque coastline to fashionable Clifton which is known as Cape Town’s St Tropez with its four beautiful beaches. Picture yachts floating on a turquoise ocean, white, sandy beaches and beautiful bodies which makes up Clifton’s reputation as the French Riviera of South Africa. End up in Sea Point for a walk along the promenade which runs the length of the Sea Point beach front, from Bantry Bay to Mouille Point. It’s a great spot for a quiet stroll or an energetic jog. Early morning and evening are particularly nice times. Cycling and skateboarding are also permitted along the promenade. Benches along the beach front provide an ideal place to rest while taking in the stunning views of the sea.

The warmer waters on the south-eastern side of the city, running from the faded resorts of Muizenberg to Simons Town, allow for a spot of swimming. The best vantage point is Boulders Beach at the southern end of Simons Town, also home to a large colony of African Penguins.

Head for the Cape’s version of Alcatraz, now a museum where Nelson Mandela was incarcerated. A moving experience is guaranteed. Boats leave hourly from the V&A Waterfront, but booking ahead is essential.
